We are Lauren and Andrew. We are parents to three kiddos and enthusiasts of growing food, community, and ourselves.
We got married in California in 2017 and have had quite the journey sorting out where and how to make a home in this modern world. This blog is a compilation of our triumphs, failures, and reflections on how to live and grow food. We’ve wandered far and wide and made homes in Virginia, Hawaii, California and New Hampshire. Along the way our hearts have expanded, old ideals have softened, and new dreams have blossomed. It’s no secret we’ve struggled with feeling settled. We are multitudes. Still haven’t found that spot where “we’ll plant our trees and die” and maybe we never will.
Berries and Figs
The name for our blog was inspired by the food forest we planted in Charlottesville, Virginia where our oldest daughter was born. North enough for blueberries to grow and south enough for figs to ripen. That’s where the blog, and growing food with children began!
