One-room living
I hold Juneberry close as I walk the trail home. The sound of snow crunching beneath my crampons offers the perfect white noise for her nap. The crackling of the woodstove welcomes us, the thumps of snow drifting off of our roof, the drip of melting icicles, and the bubbling of boiling beans...these are the sounds of home right now.
Loofah and Soap
This past summer, Andrew and I swung by a local plant sale. Two unsuspecting loofah plants caught our eye. As an afterthought, we popped these starts in the back forty among the other scattered squash seeds (loofah is a squash!) and promptly forgot about them.
Pregnancy in the Garden
Because of my pregnancy and the pandemic, I took a leave of absence from the hospital. The little one and I have been at home instead of pacing around the intensive care unit. I’ve thrown myself more deeply into the community of ducks, chickens, plants, insects, and birds that call this landscape home.
